28 Days Later

Matt, Thomas, Emily, Jordan and I went to see Danny Boyle's (Trainspotting, Shallow Grave) new movie, a horror/zombie flick called 28 Days Later, last night. Usually, I hate horror movies. But this one was very well done. It is a British movie, and certainly not for the faint of heart, but tension was built well, the acting was fair, the plot not too ridiculous, and there were some truly creepy moments. The zombies were actually scary, which is uncommon amongst your normal horror flicks, where the monsters are usually just stupid. The shots of a downtown London absolutely empty (reminiscent of NY City in Vanilla Sky) are breathtaking, and almost worth the admission price by themselves. As Jordan said, "I wouldn't buy it, but...", I really enjoyed the movie.

Vanilla Sky was a surprisingly good movie too. All except Penelope Cruz looking as sloe-eyed as possible at every waking moment. Yeah, we get it, Penelope, you're cute, you're cute.

I'm glad to finally have met someone else who liked Vanilla Sky. Pretty much everyone I know hated it. But I thought it was great. Very well done, surprising and smart. Sure they used some conventional tricks to turn you around, but so what? I liked it a lot.

I liked Vanilla Sky...in general I'm a Cameron Crowe film, and I can't watch Almost Famous without gettin' completely giddy.

I don't think Vanilla Sky was a perfect movie, I do think it was intelligent though, and well filmed. Some scenes were downright money.

I also can't wait to see 28 Days Later. I loath the undead.

I liked Vanilla Sky as well; it was an interesting idea to toss around. Thought Cameron Diaz was cuter than Penelope, though.

Man Gosey, you're really outta line. I can't believe you just said that. Next thing you know you'll be saying you like France or something. For a guy who loves Zeppelin, The Stripes, and Band of Brothers, you're taste is BULLS**T!

I wasn't as crazy about _Vanilla Sky_ compared to other Crowe movies. It's a very different movie than his others. I like his more nostalgic stuff dealing with kids and coming of and stages of life and stuff like that. This one was interesting, though; it just didn't seem like a Cameron Crowe movie. But, maybe he's trying to do something different.
