I know, I know. I review too many movies, and too much music. I am a bad, bad person. You may now mock me on your blog.
Lacey and I saw School of Rock last week. Jack Black is hilarious (what a shock), but not in a drop-dead, Zoolander meets Tommy Boy sort of way. In a decent movie sort of way. It was definitely a bit cheesy sometimes, but the kids rocked (they actually PLAY those instruments) and it was a very well-done flick. What else would you expect from Linklater (Dazed and Confused)? Anyways, they let Black go a little more than Shallow Hal and a little less than Hi Fidelity...the result was one funny movie, and some good entertainment.
And then there was Kill Bill on Friday night. I wasn't going to review this on my blog, but recent events on other blogs have made me want to, if only to mention TARANTINO the infidel. I'm telling you, the movie was stunning. The first half hour took some getting used to, but then it settled down into one heck of an action/kung-fu flick. And of course there were the cool little Quentin oddities, jokes and references to look forward to, that made it dang funny. Certainly some of the nods and jokes from old, cryptic movies were over my head, but I very much enjoyed the movie, as did everyone in our rather large group. The fight scenes were amazing. The sets beautiful. The cinematography, score, soundtrack, acting...all brilliant. This movie packs a wallop. It's worth it...but be prepared for some violence. Just a warning.

Posted by: JosiahQ at October 13, 2003 04:30 PMi, along with many others, happen to like your reviews.. keep 'em coming.
Posted by: Honi at October 16, 2003 02:13 PMYeah, please continue reviewing. You love movies about as much as anyone I've ever known, and it's extremely enjoyable to read your reviews.
I envy you having gotten to see those two movies. We've tightened our financial belts, so to speak, and so I doubt I'll see either one of them until they're out on DVD. The only movie I probably will see at the theater in the not-so-distant future will be Matrix 3.
