He's back.
I watched Hero last night. I had heard mixed reviews. Critics loved it, people I work with hated it. I gotta say, I thought it was amazing. For instance, they do each fight scene with a different color theme. There is a red scene in the leaves, a blue scene on the water, a green scene in the forest, a white scene in the desert. It's amazing. Admittedly, I don't understand the whole movie, and some of the imagery, but from what I do understand, I loved it. I was ready to watch it again right after it was over. Some of the most famous Hong Kong kung-fu stars are in it, along with the incomparable Jet Li. That dude is freaking awesome. He was a national kung-fu champion at age 13, and can sword-play like nobody's business. I mean, I was just enthralled with this movie. I don't know what it was about it. It wasn't that complex, it was in another language, and it used the critics' no-no of flashback-storytelling. And yet...wow. I really like the analogy of fighting to music. The soundtrack itself was wonderful. I don't know, I feel like these are crazy, choppy sentences. I wish I could write more fluidly, but thoughts are rushing in my head so fast just thinking about this movie, it makes it almost impossible. I suggest you rent it.
