Darth Weezer

Finally. FINALLY. FINALLY!!!!!!! Well, it came out, and it was not everything I had hoped, but was a fitting end to what has been the greatest set of movies of my life. I saw Episode 3 at the 12:01AM showing Thursday, and it was glorious. I thought the acting was better, although not great (aside from Ian McDiarmid as the emperor, who was fantastic). I thought the plot was good, but not fantastic (they blew the scene where Anakin turns to the dark side for good, right at the end, although up till that, the scene was excellent). And I thought the action was great, but not perfect. To be honest, the problem is my own fault. My expectations were SO incredibly high, that anything less than a perfect movie would have been a letdown. And this was not a perfect movie. But don't get me wrong, I loved every second of it. I can't wait to see it again (Lacey is out of town thursday, so hello star wars all weekend!). And maybe the movie will be better upon further viewings, who knows. But I expected magic out of the Anakin/Obi-Wan fight, and there was no magic. I still prefer Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul in Episode 1 for the best lightsaber battle in all the films. But, I'm rambling. For a fairly accurate picture of how things went the night I saw it, see Lacey's blog (xanga.com/mrsmelton). And for a crazed fan's reaction, see Matt Wilkins' blog (cardco.blogspot.com). I can only give you my honest opinion: I loved it, but it was not perfect.

As for Weezer, I had hoped to redeem my musical week, but alas, no such luck. I did not hate the new album, as many old fans of Weezer have. Nor did I think it was anything special. I still much prefer their first three albums. I probably put this on par with Maladroit. I like many of the songs, but I don't love them. As I listen to it more, I am beginning to like it better (as usual for me), but it just isn't up to the normal Weezer standards. It's like they've lost something...that edge, or ability to make crazy, catchy, funny, ironic songs that somehow draw the listener in. Anyway, the album is definitely worth having, I just won't listen to it a ton, more than likely.

I loved it... except for the parts when Anakin and Padme had lines...
