Ok, I've been drafted to do the music/DJ Anna and Chris's wedding reception, coming up on October 11th. What I'm hoping for here, is that the 2.4 people that read this blog will email me, or leave in the comments section, suggestions for songs. They can be songs that were a hit at your reception, songs that you wish you could have played at your or someone else's reception, songs that you really like, whatever. I have a lot of music in mind, but I could always use some more. So hit me with it.

Posted by: Eric at January 10, 2008 12:01 AMIn any setlist at a party, you've always got to account for the twenty minutes that precede the part where people are actually dancing. During this time, you can't really play dance music, because then it looks like no one is dancing, but you can't play slow jamz or classics, because those don't get people in the mood for dancing. You kind of have to slip something in that is slightly in between. For this portion, I recko;
Solisbury Hill, by Peter Gabriel
Miss You Much, by Janet Jackson
Regret, by New Order
When it's time for people to start moving out on the floor, I recko the most obvious stuff you've got on hand. The "Last Days of Disco" soundtrack will provide you with:
Got To Be Real, by Cheryl Lynn
Everybody Dance, by Chic
He's The Greatest Dancer, by Sister Sledge
And for when it is your duty to tear the dance floor apart, I say:
Let's Dance, by David Bowie
Can't Get You Out Of My Head, by Kylie
One More Time, by Daft Punk
On the slow jamz end of things, I would submit to you that "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton is a song that, if played at the right moment, could get George Bush laid at a Planned Parenthood rally.
