Holy Crap! 3 posts in one day after a who-knows-how-long hiatus! This is insane! Anyway, it's been a coon's age since I posted about movies but here goes.
I haven't really had time to see too much. Well, at least compared to normal. I've only seen three movies in the theater in about a month. One was Man on Fire. That was pretty freaking good. Unlike some people down here, I happen to like Denzel, and he did a great job in this movie. Plus any flick with Walken has a leg up. The guy is just cool. And that Dakota Fanning...what a cutie. Anyways, I liked the story and the action. I thought it brought a lot of elements together nicely, such as revenge, 2nd chances, relationships, etc. It was very well done. I don't have time to go into more detail (sorry Josiah), but it's worth your time.
I also saw Walking Tall a couple weeks ago. You see, I'm a fan of The Rock. He is obviously the new action star of this generation, as seen in the Rundown, getting the torch passed from the Govenator. Anyway, Walking Tall is a really fun action movie. Sometimes I need to see a movie where everything you want to happen, happens, just because it makes you feel good. Was the movie unrealistic? Oh yeah. Was it short on time and depth? Of course. But watching The Rock beat the tar out of the bad guys with a 4X4 is oh so much fun. And Johnny Knoxville adds a very decent humor element that makes this a real crowd-pleaser.
Last but not least, there's Kill Bill Volume 2. Much has been written about the two latest Tarantino gems, so again, I'm not going to go into much detail. I will say that as much as I liked Volume 1 (and I liked it a great deal), I prefer Volume 2. It's shorter on action and bloodshed, and longer on those (in)famous Tarantino conversation-pieces. And that's the Tarantino that I love. There was so much to like about these two movies, especially the second one, that it would take forever to talk about. Suffice to say that it's a cool story, with superb camera work, excellent dialogue, and fun surprises, along with fantastic performances and one heck of a soundtrack. Did I leave anything out? It's definitely the movie of the year for me so far. Then again, Troy has yet to come out:)
With about a month left to the big day, I keep getting asked, "so, are you nervous yet?" And I think it's a pretty strange question. I mean, I know why you would ask pagans that, since they ONLY get to sleep with one more person the rest of their lives...how tragic (he said with a sarcastic grin). But I'm not nervous at all...and I don't plan on becoming so. To me, it's what I've been waiting for all my life. I am excited and very much ready to be married. So I find it odd that people ask me about being nervous. Is that just something you ask people who are about to be married, when you don't have anything else to talk about, or what?
By the way, as a shameless plug, you can buy stuff for Lacey and I's wedding at the three places we're registered at:
Target, Dillards, and Pier One. And they all have online gift registries and shopping. Man, I feel guilty for posting this:)
Well, tomorrow is the Mexican holiday, and I have the night off, so I'm sad there's no party. I missed Christin's big bash last year, and sadly there's no reprisal. Lacey did ask me an interesting question this week though. Why do we have parties on Cinco de Mayo? Yes, it's a Mexican holiday, but why do we feel compelled to celebrate it in places like Moscow, Idaho and Monroe, Louisiana? Is it just another excuse to get together and drink, or what? I'm perplexed. Any thoughts?
